Cameron Highland part 3-Kea Farm(foods in Cameron)

So what to eat in Cameron?

I will certainly recommend a visit to Kea Farm. It is one of the famous market situated near the Equatorial Hotel,2 km north of Brinchang town.

I highly recommend u try the jagung there, which is the pearl jagung, It is very sweet, young and u dont even have to cook it! Eat it raw! I like it and buy a few to pack it in my luggage to bring back home and my family members told me I should buy more instead! haha..

This is how the KEa Farm look like. But this is only a small part which was along the road side. There is still another big market in the middle.

I dont have chance to take photos as my hands were fully occupied by foods that I bought.

SO what kind of vegetables can you get here? cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage ,Corns, sweet potato, cherry tomato, zucchini, asparagus, strawberry (which was the most popular thing). And at some stalls vegetables are sold in bundles. You can get mixture of 14 packages of different vegetables for only RM 10. You will certainly laugh your head off for the good bargain here.

A heaven for housewives for sure!

This is the sweet potatos. Taste sweet and good for your health.

Except foods, you can also find flowers and honey in the market.

Honey

This is the strawberry farm which you can find abandant in Cameron. You can even pluck the strawberry yourself and buy it. Of course self plucking strawberry will be more expensive than the one you can buy it at market.

In market, the strawberry is usually pack in pack and no weight stated. One pack at about RM4 to RM5. You can find a good bargain at evening or night as the seller will like to clear their stocks cos strawberry couldn't last long.

As many take Cameron=strawberry, you can find all ranges of things related to strawberry, from strawberry juice to strawberry ice-crea, strawberry cakes, dry strawberry, and souveniors in strawberry comes in bags, key chain, pillow, blanket, unbrella, pencil, t-shirt

This is the strawberry ice-cream.

Cameron Highlands Part 2

This is my second part of my cameron highland trip.

It will be nice if you can overnight at cameron cos travelling up to cameron highland is not a striaght road. SOme of my fren feel dizzy and vomit in the car after the ride, especially by using the old road. Therefore, highly recommend not to sit inside the car with full stomach.

SO where can u stay at cameron highlands?

As far as I know, there is an Equatorial Cameron Highland resort, and Strawberry park resort.

I stay at Strawberry Park resort. http://www.strawberryparkresorts.com/

This is the view from my balcony. Isn;t it nice? look like u are at the country side at a foreign country.

However, the rate here is certainly not cheap, it range from RM300 and above. Comfort comes with a price.

This is the interior of the room. Mine is studio single type.

The 1st thing we search for when we enter the room is air con controller.

" eh, air controller le?"

"hmm..dont know wo..see inside the bathroom got or not."

we look up and down and high and low...still couldn't find it. Then we decide to stop looking at it since we didn't feel extremely hot or cold inside the room.

When we walk out the balcony, finally we realise that there is no air con in the room!!

OMG! The room in Cameron Highland DO NOT NEED AN AIR CON!!

haha...we simply laugh our way up thinking of our usual habit whereby the first thing we walk into the room and search for the air con remote and turin it to the lowest temperature.

What an unfriendly gesture to the earth. We are so dependent to the air con for our own comfort, without thinking of our carbon footprint to the earth.

At night, thanks for the weather at cameron, i can still sleep with no air -con and with blanket on.
This is how the resort look like. About 4 storey high.

This is the steam boat in the resort's restautant. The food there is to serve 10 people. And dont think that the fish and meat is actually that big portion as shown in the pic. Underneath the meat and fish, it is all vegetables. haha..

But vegetables taste nice there cos it is planted there...

So, where else to go beside the Boh Tea Centre that I introduce to you before?

Come visit the Cactus Valley.

When i say cactus, dont get the wrong idea that it only display cactus. Besides cactus, it have plenty of flowers and plants.

This is one of the cactus that i find cute and beautiful.

The other species of cactus whereby I dont know the name.

And u can find lavernder there! wow...

After that, we visited the Water crest Valley(西洋菜馆). I am sure every mum have cook this soup before at home. Water crest Valley needs plenty of water to grow it. At there, there is also restaurant serving cooked water crest in soups or drinks.
THe colour of the water crest is light green, different from those we buy from the market which have already turn to dark green colour.

Besides, you can also visit the Kea farm, which is a market sell variety of foods and fruits. And i like it every much!
Foods and fruits in cameron comes up next!

Boulevard Restautant RM9.90 per dish!!

Thinking of where to eat at lunch time?

Try Boulevard Restaurant! They are now having promotion at lunch hour for RM9.90 per dish.

And the portion is BIG>.....enought to fit about 4-6 person.

THis is the thai chicken. I like it the most. It is very crispy and with the sour and a little spicy source on top of it. Definitely a good match to the rice!

My top recommendation :)

This is Thai fish. It is deep fried till the skin outside is very crispy but the meat inside still remain soft. The sauce on top of it make it not to try when you eat it.

THis is the claypot with pork and sambal. THe sauce taste very nice and good to eat with rice!

THis is the black pepper beef. It taste like the normal black pepper dish that you normally eat at restaurant.

For the non-meat lover, there are vegetables available too, like local vegetables shown above, luo han zai.
The promotion only until this month (April)!!. Be quick

Cameron Highlands Highlight 1-Boh Tea Centre

What else reminded you of Cameron Highland except strawberry and rose?

Boh Tea of course!!

Think you will never forgot the advertisement of 'Minum Boh, baru ada ummph' ..............

The Boh Tea Centre is situated at cameron Highlands, Sg Palas.

This is the tea plantation farm. You can see it along your way up the hill to the tea centre.

The pic below is the Boh Tea cafe. The cafe has indoor and outdoor area. There are glass walls around the inside of the cafe, so that if you cant get the balcony seat, you can still able to enjoy the magificient view sitting inside.

This is a cup of Boh Tea. The price for a cup of tea range from RM 2.50. Or else you can get a pot of tea to share with your friends or family. However, they will charge for every empty cup that you requested (RM 2.50 per empty cup if not mistaken). So not a very good bargain also.

This is how the cafe look like. Besides tea, cakes and pastries are served too to give you a quality afternoon tea. You can spent your lazy afternoon here enjoying the BOH tea while enjoying the scenic view.

Interested to know how the cup of tea is being made?

No worry, the tea factory is open for visit for FREE!!
However, no explanation were given on the tea making process. http://www.malaysiahotelreview.com/pahang/destination/boh-tea-centre.shtml
I have found a good explanation of tea making process from this website .

First , the tea leaves have to be dried to remove the moisture content.
Later they have to sent to this rolloing machine to expose the leave juices to oxygen. All things are replaced by machines nowadays.

The leaves then going through fermentation. This step will determine the taste of the end products.

The products then going through drying which at this stage, the tea will appear black.
The tea then going through sorting before being packed into individual packing.
If you want to buy some Boh tea to bring back home, there is one merchandise shop nearby the Boh tea cafe. You can get all range of Boh Tea there, including some that could not be found in major supermakets.

Estee Lauder Cyber White EX Workshop

This is the goodie day that consist of the door gift. The door gift include of a comestic bag, one small Estee Lauder compact powder(2.3g), one extra concnetrated brightening essence (7ml) and one Estee Lauder Extra Brightening Eye Cream (3ml).

The workshop start with brief introduction on how our skin will appear dark spot and pigmentation. It follow by product demonstration whereby each of us are given the chance to use the product. We started with make up remover, follow up cleanser, scrub, mask, serum, lotion and sunblock.

Golok Mee and some noodles are served too.

The curry rice comes in a bowl with long bean, cabbage, potatos and chicken. Rice is served in another plate. RM 5.50 for a set.

Curtin 10th Anniversary Open day -4 April 2009

Curtin is having its 10th Anniversary Open day at 4 April 2009.

In order to celebrate the event, a range of activities are being held.

There are performances on stage such as these cheer leading dances.Others including traditional dance, dance competition and etc..

There are even Mr and Mrs Curtin Competition.
By the time I arrived they were announcing the winners already, therefore I have no idea how the selection process is done.

There were food sells by students and hotels. The foods stalls by the students were mainly for fun raising for the activities of the clubs. One have to purchase the coupon in order to purchase the food. There were attractive lucky draw going on too!

Here, you can see the large crowd at the food stalls. Besides foods, students used their creativity to provide services too, such as manicure, tatoo-ing, and setting up game stalls.

This is the new faculty for the school of business. You can see more photos at the slideshow below.
